Abstract

While frequency-shift keying (FSK) nonsynchronous heterodyne systems have been demonstrated at bit rates as high as 8 Gb/s [1], synchronous phase-shift keying (PSK) heterodyne experiments have been, until now, demonstrated at 565 Mb/s [2]-[4] and 1.2 Gb/s [5]. In this paper, we increase the bit rate of the phase-locked PSK heterodyne system to 4 Gb/s. The higher bit rate was achieved using wide-bandwidth intermediate frequency (IF) signal processing electronics.
