Abstract

Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers can be used in long-distance transmission systems [1], In this letter, the temperature dependence of the gain in an erbium-doped fiber pumped at 1.48, μm and 0.98 μm are reported. 1.48 μm pump is more sensitive to temperature than 0.98 μm pump because of the change in the saturated population inversion.
