Abstract

Single wavelength distributed feedback (DFB) lasers fabricated using the InGaAsP material are used in direct detection transmission systems operating at high data rates. For next generation transmission systems such as coherent transmissions, narrow linewidth and uniform frequency modulation are essential.1 One of the most promising schemes for practical coherent systems involves the frequency shift keying (FSK) modulation format.2
