In-line Raman seeding technique for generating multiorder Stokes seeds with alternate circular polarization

Abstract

Raman seeding is a well known method for controlling the wavefront of a laser beam undergoing Raman conversion. Here we consider a case in which a rotational Raman transition dominates and in which the gain length product is so high that conversion is expected to continue beyond first Stokes St. To control the wavefront of the converted light, one then requires a method of generating good beam quality multiple-order Stokes seed beams.
