Abstract

Silica glass fibers doped by ions of rare earth elements are promising from the point of view of optical fiber communication techniques and are widely used as the active medium in fiber lasers and amplifiers. Besides, optical properties of such fibers allow their use in fiber sensors controlling a number of physical parameters.
