Abstract

We describe a new single laser two-step fluorescence scheme for detecting atomic hydrogen and demonstrate its application to flame measurements. This technique is very similar to a two-step technique that we have described previously1 and shares its advantages over other multiphoton excitation techniques for detecting atomic hydrogen in combustion environments2 but has the significant additional advantage that only a single tunable laser is required for its implementation.
