Abstract

Recently a novel self-filtering unstable resonator (SFUR) was proposed which employs a self-filtering intracavity aperture.1,2 This configuration is particularly suited for high gain lasers and has been successfully used with Nd:YAG, CO2, and excimer lasers.3,4 Here we present an experimental study to evaluate and test the application of the SPUR in a copper vapor laser in search of diffraction-limited high power extraction operation.
