Abstract

Following Takada et al.,1,2 a single-mode dispersion-shifted fiber delay line is used to compress the (chirped) pulsed output of a gain-switched 1.3-μm InGaAsP distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD). A substantial fraction of the total pulse energy from such a source appears3 to reside in wide non-Gaussian wings.
