Abstract

We report on the novel design of a fast photodiode for satellite laser ranging. The diode based satellite laser ranging receiver (see Fig. 1) with 3-cm (190-ps) ranging jitter and operating at −60°C has been reported.1 The single photodiode operating in the active quenching/gating mode for spectroscopy at room temperature and having an active area of 8-40 μm in diameter has been reported.1
