Abstract

The rapid advances in the development of efficient high power laser diodes have permitted the parallel development of diode pumped solid state lasers that emit in the 1.0-1.3μm wavelength range. These systems are commercially available from several companies with output powers approaching 1 W, and several systems have been demonstrated in various laboratories that have significantly higher output powers. Closely following these developments nonlinear optical materials have been incorporated mostly in an intracavity configuration to achieve visible outputs. These systems are also commercially available, and outputs here approach 100 mW.
