Abstract

The sol-gel process for making organic/inorganic composite glasses has received a great deal of attention from material scientists.1–4 Successful mixing of π-conjugated organic polymers, poly-(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV), and inorganic oxide glasses has shown great advantages in the optical waveguiding and photonics applications.
