Space-qualified laser transmitter for LITE

Abstract

A space qualified 3-color 10 Hz Nd:YAG based laser has been built to be launched in 1993 for the NASA Langley Research Centers' shuttle Lidar In-Space Technology Experiment (LITE). See Fig. 1. The required output energies per pulse at 10 Hz are 200, 400, and 150 mJ at 1064, 532, and 355 nm, respectively.
