Abstract
Mutually pumped phase conjugation (MPPC) is an optical process in which two incident beams are simultaneously phase conjugated. It has been experimentally observed in various photorefractive media and resonators.1,2 Although a number of special cases (steady state) have been treated, a general theory is not available.3,4 To illustrate this, we may point out that the present state of theory does not explain the growth of the phase conjugate beams. In this paper we present a dynamic theory that involves coupling among pump, phase conjugate and non-conjugated (conical scattering) beams. Our theory predicts the growth of phase conjugate and the decay of non-conjugated beams.
