Abstract
We have previously reported on Nd:YAG-pumped Cr4+:YAG tunable pulse lasing in the near infrared range of 1350 nm to 1560 nm [1,2]. Its unique spectral range complements well that of Ti:sapphire and covers important applications in laser radar, free space and fiber optic communications, “eye-safe” ranging, OTDR, and many other areas. In this paper, we report the first successful CW lasing of such devices, also as the significant performance improvements of normal and Q-switch pumped versions.
