Abstract
Multichannel coherent optical communications systems provide the possibility of using the large bandwidth of the optical fiber by means of frequency division multiplexing (FDM). However, the performance of multichannel FDM systems may be degraded because of nonlinear interactions.1 In particular, power exchange among copropagating channels, owing to four-wave mixing (FWM), may result in a significant crosstalk.2
