Abstract
We report on mode-locking at 1047, 1053, and 1321 nm wavelengths in Nd:YLF and 1064 nm in Nd:YAG lasers. The 1047-nm line of Nd:YLF delivered the best results. 235-mW average power with 7.3-ps pulses. Active cavity length stabilization allows stable short pulse formation. Applications for these lasers include optical testing of integrated circuits, seeding regenerative amplifiers, photonic switching, optical communications, and generation of picosecond electron pulses for seeding linear accelerators. Pulse powers are sufficient for pulse compression and frequency doubling.
