Abstract

For high-speed control of light, broadband modulators driven by fast electric signals have typically been used. This method is quite useful in the nanosecond to subnanosecond range. In the picosecond to femtosecond range, however, the use of wideband modulators is not realistic because the construction of such fast devices become very difficult.
