Abstract

Nonlinear GaAs/GaAlAs optical waveguides showing bistable switching action could be conveniently compatible with laser-diode integration, To date, optical bistable operation of GaAs waveguide devices under cw illumination conditions has been demonstrated only as a consequence of optothermal nonlinearity.1,2
