Phase conjugation in a highpower electron beam sustained CO2 laser

Abstract

Gas flow CO2 lasers with high average power of radiation may be considered promising for a number of applications using a ground-based laser to deliver sufficient amounts of laser radiation energy to some objects in space. Besides the high average radiation power of CO2 lasers, one of the reasons for that is connected with large values of correlation radius of atmosphere perturbations for long radiation wavelengths. High values of isoplanatic angles in this case (>10-4 rad) make it possible (at least theoretically) to use phase conjugation for atmosphere turbulence compensation.
