Single-shot phase-sensitive autocorrelator for the ultraviolet

Abstract

The recent development of high-intensity ultraviolet laser systems has created a need for autocorrelation methods that can be used to characterize the temporal and phase structure of the laser pulse. Characterizing the chirp of the laser pulse is of importance for pulse compression experiments, but single-shot phase-sensitive autocorrelators to date have relied on frequency-doubling in nonlinear crystals, and consequently their range of operation has been restricted to >420 nm.
