Restoring dynamics of passively mode-locked lasers

Abstract

An actual mode-locked laser system usually suffers from various perturbations, so the perfectly periodic operation is disturbed. Amplitude and phase noises of a mode-locked laser, either a dye or semiconductor laser system, should therefore be closely connected to the restoring dynamics of the system. The present work tries to perform a systematic numerical simulation to trace transient behaviors once the system deviates from the stationary pulsation (an attractor in phase space).
