Abstract

An efficient laser operation with long gas life is required for operating a TEA-CO2 laser with low running costs, absence of bulky gas bottles, and compatibility for use with expensive isotopic CO2 species. We describe the design and operating characteristics of reasonably compact, semisealed-off, high-repetition-rate TEA-12C16O2 and 13C18O2 lasers operating at prfs <150 Hz with a stable discharge system using a new type of surface-wire-corona preionizer, which operates with >2.1 ×106 shots on a single gas fill.
