Abstract

Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs)1 are useful for soliton amplification and transmission.2 Realization of a lumped amplifier technique which uses EDFAs has made it possible to move the dream of soliton communication into the developmental stage.3 Since then, many interesting results have been reported.4,3 This technique, dynamic soliton communication which is also known as the guiding center soliton or super soliton,6 has a wide range of applicability from Ln << ZSP to Ln ~ ZSP which depends on the maximum required transmission distance.
