Abstract
The bandwidth of the output spectrum of a homogeneously broadened laser should narrow during buildup to the steady-state due to the gain competition effect among the longitudinal modes. It is interesting to investigate the temporal evolution of this process. Concurrently, the average output power of the laser should also undergo relaxation oscillation and approach the steady state.
