Abstract

The quest for ever higher output power levels for cw monolithic AlGaAs laser diode arrays has resulted in a dramatic improvement in the demonstrated maximum cw output power in recent years. So far the highest demonstrated cw output power level has been 76 W from a 1-cm wide monolithic laser diode array with a 3000-μm total aperture width at a heatsink temperature of 0°C.1
