Abstract

We propose a novel wavelength conversion device based on hybrid modal phase matching and quasi phase matching in combined straight and bent waveguides with the laterally inverted core structure. Numerical simulations revealed that conversion efficiency as high as 27500 %/W is attainable for 1.55-μm SHG in a 32-mm-long AlGaAs/SiO2 rib waveguide that can be folded up into a 1.6-mm × 84 μm domain.
