Wide-spectrum-range Power-efficient Compact Thermo-optic Switch Based on Coupled Photonic Crystal Microcavities

Abstract

We demonstrate a thermo-optic switch comprising a 3.78µm-long coupled photonic crystal resonators coupled to a photonic crystal waveguide. The device has 6nm optical bandwidth, 20dB optical extinction ratio, 18.2mW switching power, and 14.8µsec rise time.
