Pulse Compression Using Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Fiber with Frequency-Shifted Loopback

Abstract

An efficient pulse compression using stimulated Brillouin scattering in fiber is proposed where the transmitted pump is returned to the fiber with its frequency downshifted. Simulation and experiment show that stable generation of highly-compressed nanosecond pulses is expected.
