A dual-drive DAC-less silicon PAM-4 optical modulator for 100 Gb/s data transmission at C-band

Abstract

A DAC-less silicon PAM-4 optical modulator which is driven by two binary electrical signals is demonstrated. A mathematical analysis for the modulation chirp is established. The device can work at 100 Gb/s.
