Finding non-classical states that do not generate entanglement at a beam splitter

Abstract

A common way to generate modal entanglement uses beam splitters. We find a set of non-classical states that are not entangled by beam splitters. This is crucial for understanding entanglement generation for, e.g., boson sampling.
