Hybrid Silicon-Nitride / Polymer Waveguide for Nonlinear-Optics Applications

Abstract

We describe a hybrid silicon-nitride / polymer slot waveguide for generation of second harmonic of a 1550 nm beam. Modal phase-matching and optimized geometry yield order-of-magnitude improvement over a channel waveguide.
