Subcycle observation of terahertz-driven minimally dissipative spin switching

Abstract

Antenna-enhanced single-cycle terahertz pulses ballistically switch the antiferromagne-tic spin order in TmFeO3 between metastable states separated by a potential energy barrier. We directly trace the temporal and spectral fingerprint of this ultrafast minimally dissipative dynamics.
