Vertical emission of second and third harmonic light from GaAs nanowires below the band edge

Abstract

Using a hydrodynamic approach we predict bulk- and surface-induced second and third harmonic generation from a GaAs nanowire grating. Absorption is inhibited below the band-edge and conversion efficiencies are predicted to be 0.5% at 333nm.
