Abstract
Monte Carlo ray-trace programs for analysis of illumination and other non-imaging optics problems usually require a large number of rays to converge to an accurate result. Representing complex surfaces by planar facets can provide a significant speed increase at the expense of accuracy when used with appropriate object space subdivision.
