Delocalization of waves in random multilayer media

Abstract

Doping random multilayer dielectric media with weak scatterers can cause delocalization of waves. Calculations show that at a critical frequency waves undergo a transition from evanescent decay to power law behavior. The transition occurs for arbitrarily weak scatterers, in stark contrast to previous predictions. Applications to novel filters are discussed.
