Abstract

An optically-resonant periodic electrode structure consists of a sub-wavelength, interdigitated metal electrode grating on top of a silicon-on-insulator substrate. This device structure exhibits all-optical switching for wavelengths near the band edge of silicon. This paper investigates the ability of an integrated capacitor to alter the optical response of the structure.
