Abstract

Noise-like pulses of 0.3 ns duration and 15-nm bandwidth are used generate a broadband Raman signal. A flat Stokes spectrum spanning a wavelength range from 1530 nm to 1650 nm was obtained in a 4.5-km length of SMF-28 fiber. Numerical calculations using Intrapulse Raman Scattering show good agreement with experimental results.
