Pulse dynamics in photonic crystals near electronic resonances

Abstract

We present a formalism for pulse propagation in photonic crystals composed of highly dispersive media. Working in terms of an effective field theory we obtain terms in pulse dynamics expressing both modal and material dispersion to all orders. Examples are presented.
