Observation of Defect Modes in Optically-induced Photonic Lattices

Abstract

Defect modes in one-dimensional optically-induced photonic lattices are experimentally demonstrated, in good agreement with our theoretical predictions. Such defect modes are analogous to guiding light in an “air-hole” in photonic crystal fibers.
