Single-layer resonant leaky-mode polarizers at 1.55 μm

Abstract

Resonant leaky modes in periodic photonic lattices are applied to design polarizers using a single patterned layer of silicon. Example designs show that a high degree of polarization is achievable over sizable spectral bands.
