Abstract
It is known that upon reconstruction, a pre-recorded cross-beam hologram under edge-lit readout with a uniform plane wave and a point source, the diffracted beam profiles exhibit Bessel-function-type behavior that are subject to modification under weak propagational diffraction. In a recent work, the case of a profiled beam readout with propagational diffraction was analyzed using a transfer function/2-D Laplace transform approach [1]. The case of dynamic readout of a cross-beam hologram recorded with two orthogonal uniform plane waves was also investigated for various dependences of the refractive index modulation with intensity. Two such dependences considered were (a) index profiles proportional to intensity, true for Kerr-type media or photorefractives with predominantly photovoltaic effect; and (b) index profiles proportional to the derivative of the intenisty, true for diffusion-dominated photorefractives.
