Nonlinear Optical Waveguide Devices Based on Femtosecond Laser Direct Writing and Thermal Poling in Bulk Fused Silica

Abstract

Thermal poling, together with femtosecond laser writing, is used for the first time to demonstrate an electro-optic waveguide modulator and SHG in glass. A novel technique to produce quasi-phase-matched structures in glass is also reported.
