Light Emitting Devices from Ionic Transition Metal Complexes

Abstract

During the last fifteen years dramatic advances have been achieved in the performance of organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). First demonstrated in the late ‘80s, they can now be found in several consumer electronic products. This fast paced progress can be traced to the unique properties of organic semiconductors such as ease of processing, optoelectronic properties that can be tailored via chemical synthesis, and their compatibility with mechanically flexible substrates.
