Imaging of photonic crystal with absolute value of effective refractive index less than unity

Abstract

We investigate the imaging properties of photonic crystal slab with an effective refractive index neff of - 0.8, in which the image distances are large than those obtained using neff of -1. The larger image distance is advantageous for some applications such as bio-medical imaging and bio-sensing.
