Abstract

Nanostructured VO2 and VO2-metal composites exhibit unusual nonlinear optical and plasmonic effects, including size- and shape-dependent optical switching and extraordinary optical transmission controlled by either thermal or ultrafast laser-initiated metal-insulator transition in vanadium dioxide.
