Characterization of Femtosecond Laser Induced Nanogratings in Fused Silica

Abstract

We analyze different variables for controlling birefringence induced in glass by a femtosecond laser. Parameters such as writing power, speed, polarization and the number of written layers can control the resulting retardance and orientation.
