Complete Optical Isolation Created by Indirect Interband Photonic Transitions

Abstract

Optical isolator is proposed for optoelectronic chip integration. Instead of magneto-optical effects, the isolation mechanism is based on indirect photonic transition. Using only silicon material, this micro-scale isolator is CMOS compatible.
