Looking back to the Laser of Schawlow and Townes, and Looking forward to the Generation of Gravitational Radiation

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

In 1958 Schawlow and Townes proposed the use of stimulated emission for generating macroscopically coherent light. I propose that the use of charged, macroscopically coherent quantum matter can lead to efficient generation of gravitational waves.
