Large tuning of birefringence in two strip silicon waveguides via optomechanical motion

Abstract

Adjusting the separation between two strip waveguides by an optical force, we obtain widely tunable birefringence dependent on the separation. The maximum difference of phase birefringence before and after tuning is calculated to be 0.026.
