Abstract
We demonstrate THz metamaterials exhibiting either amplitude/phase control, via carrier injection or depletion in the active semiconductor substrate or frequency control, via photoexcitation of carriers into active semiconducting materials incorporated into the sub-wavelength metamaterial structure.
